Description

The White Rhino. It's heart breaking what is happening to these beautiful creatures. In a few years, they may all be gone. At the end of January 2013 I am going to Zimbabwe to do a Rhino conservation program to try make a difference, even if it's small. We must change something.

This is my 1st DD! Thank you everyone for the beautiful comments! <3

Ted Turner's Captain Planet and the Planeteers features an episode addressing rhino conservation. It's called Horns A'Plenty, and it mentions that rhino horns are nothing but keratin, like our hair and fingernails, and therefore have no medicinal properties. When Wheeler drinks Chinese tea, he asks what's in it, and the man who made it for him tells him that one of the ingredients is rhino horn, and that's what gets the Planeteers' mission going.

"You shouldn't use rhinos for anything!"

It's clear that Doug Walker, the Nostalgia Critic, should have praised this cartoon rather than comically overreacting to its flaws ("Wheeler is a douche...Gaia, the Spirit of the Earth, looks like a woman from a perfume commercial...is Ma-Ti's Heart power supposed to make people feel better about themselves?...Captain Planet looks like Silver Surfer's brother in gay underwear..."). Actually, Ma-Ti's Heart power is for locating people, animals, and objects unable to be found by conventional means. I mean, Doug's right, this cartoon isn't perfect, but it does teach many valuable lessons besides environmental ones (for instance, that women and men can do the same jobs). THANK YOU, ROBERT EDWARD TURNER!
